Important: The mobile app is for users aged 18 and older. The Athlete Portal is accessible through a verified institutional agreement, and for athletes under 18, parental or guardian consent must be obtained by the institution prior to access.
When an athlete accesses the platform through an institutional agreement, the institution may provide us with basic enrollment information including name, email, and sport. This information is used solely to set up and manage the athlete's platform access.

BTHD uses AI-powered coaching tools to deliver personalized career transition guidance, leadership development content, and identity assessments. These tools are powered by Anthropic's Claude API.
Your interactions with BTHD's AI coach, including assessment responses and coaching conversations, may be processed by Anthropic to generate responses. We do not use your personal data to train AI models. You may opt out of AI-powered features by contacting harry@bthd.app.
Note for parents and guardians: AI coaching features on the Athlete Portal are curriculum-driven and age-appropriate. No student data is used to train AI models.
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. Upon account deletion, we will delete or anonymize your data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.
For Athlete Portal users, all data associated with a student's account will be deleted upon written request from the institution or parent/guardian following the end of the institutional agreement.
We use industry-standard security measures including encrypted data transmission (TLS), secure authentication, and row-level security in our database infrastructure (Supabase). Access to personal data is role-restricted, so institutional admins can only access their own institution's data, and athletes can only access their own records.
No transmission over the internet is 100% secure. We encourage you to use a secure network when accessing the platform.
The BTHD mobile application is strictly for users aged 18 and older. Users must confirm their age at account creation. If we become aware that a user under 18 has created an account on the mobile app, we will immediately deactivate the account and delete the associated data.
Students under 18 may access the BTHD Athlete Portal (bthd.app/athlete) exclusively through a verified institutional agreement. Institutions are responsible for obtaining parental or guardian consent before enrolling any student under 18. BTHD does not directly solicit or collect personal information from students under 18 outside of the institutional onboarding process.
For institutions subject to the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), Bigger Than Hoop Dreams Inc. acts as a "school official" with a legitimate educational interest as defined under 34 C.F.R. § 99.31(a)(1). In this capacity:
BTHD complies with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The Athlete Portal is available through institutional agreements, and only after the institution has confirmed that verifiable parental consent has been obtained.
Athletes under 13 are not permitted to use any BTHD service under any circumstances. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately at harry@bthd.app and we will delete the information promptly.

For students and parents/guardians: Requests to access, correct, or delete a student's data may be submitted directly to harry@bthd.app or through the institution's designated administrator.
We do not currently respond to Do-Not-Track (DNT) browser signals as no uniform standard has been established. If a standard is adopted that we are required to follow, we will update this policy accordingly.
